Boston public services

Item Information

Title:
Boston public services
Description:
Public services are critical resources that allow all Boston residents to maintain safe, healthy and productive lives. This map shows the locations of public libraries, schools, health centers, parks, and protective services such as police and fire stations. In addition to these amenities, the Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement – whose mission is to “strengthen the ability of immigrants and Boston’s diverse cultural and linguistic communities to fully participate in the economic, civic, social, and cultural life” in the city – provides important advice and resources to the immigrant community in Boston. The Office produces multi-lingual guides to city services, hosts free immigration consultations with volunteer attorneys, and maintains the “Immigrant Information Corners” in each Boston Public Library branch. The “Corners” contain information about immigration, citizenship, financial empowerment and other community resources.
