Measuring Distances on a Map

Information

Overview:

Scale is the relationship between distances on a map and the corresponding distance in the real world. Scale can be represented in three different ways: in an equation form, graphically and using a representative fraction. In this lesson, students will explore ideas related to lengths and repeated lengths to understand properties of addition using the graphical scale.
